Ranjit Chowdhry, an actor best known for enjoying Vikram in NBC’s “The Office,” died on Wednesday. He was 64.



The Indian daily newspaper The Economic Times reported the news on Thursday. No explanation for death has been announced. Chowdhry’s half-sister Raell Padamsee also revealed the sad news on Instagram, saying, “For all those that knew Ranjit, the funeral is going to be held tomorrow and a gathering to his life and share stories With love, Rail

In addition to “The Office,” Chowdhry has TV credits on “NYPD Blue,” “Cosby,” “Falcone” and “Prison Break.” He last appeared in an episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” playing a hotelier. He started his career within the 1978 movie “Khatta Meetha” made by Basu Chatterjee.

The actor appeared as Vikram in two episodes of “The Office,” one in 2007 and another in 2009. In season 4 of the hit comedy, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) gets a second sales job in the dark and meets Vikram, who features a better sales record and mentors him. In season 5, Michael recruits Vikram to figure for his Michael Scott Paper Company, a short-lived rival to Dunder Mifflin

Ranjit Chowdhry (September 19, 1955 – April 15, 2020) was an Indian actor, known for his roles in television, movies, and theatre. He appeared in two episodes of The Office, as Vikram, a telemarketer who worked with Michael and was briefly hired for The Michael Scotts’ Paper Company.

Life and career:

Ranjit was born and raised in Mumbai during a family with a theatre background, where he received his early education at Campion School, Mumbai, and began his acting career. Mukherjee's Khubsoorat (1980). Thereafter, he moved to us within the early 1980s. He wrote the screenplay and acted in Sam & Me (directed by Deepa Mehta), which won a mention at Cannes in 1991.

He was a guest star in Law and Order SVU and had appeared in two seasons of The Office and Prison Break.

Doctor Sanjay Gupta, who worked with Chowdhry on the Kaante, tweeted that his performances were a joy and "KHATTA MEETHA is my favorite.
